A Social Housing Project

Platform Housing Group has successfully completed the transformation of the former Rainbow Hill Working Men’s Club on Mayfield Road into Mayfield Court—a modern residential scheme delivering 22 high-quality social housing apartments. This new development comprises 16 one-bedroom flats and 6 two-bedroom flats, designed to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in Worcester.

The site presented a range of logistical and engineering challenges due to its steeply sloped terrain and proximity to existing residential properties, requiring careful planning, phased construction, and collaborative problem-solving from all project partners.

Jim Wilkins, Senior Land Manager at Platform Housing Group ^{(note 1),} remarked:

“We would like to thank all of our partners who played their part in the development of Mayfield Court. The site itself was challenging as it stands on a steep slope surrounded by residential properties. We are delighted it is now completed and look forward to families moving into these much-needed affordable homes in the area.”

The scheme was funded through Voluntary Right to Buy (VRTB) proceeds, with Worcester City Council agreeing for those funds to be allocated specifically to this project—a move that enabled the delivery of vital new housing stock in the local community.
