Michael Brabbs

Director

Michael took a Combined Honours degree at Aston University followed by a Diploma in Architecture at the Hull School of Architecture. He was elected as a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and registered with ARCUK in 1985. Michael joined Graham J Masefield & Associates in 1999 and following the acquisition of the practice in 2006 was appointed a director of Masefields Marchant & Brabbs Ltd. Michael has a wide range of experience in both public and private sectors as well as ecclesiastical projects and is a registered SAP assessor for new dwellings, leading the practice philosophy of fabric first and sustainability as key design principles. Michael enjoys reading, making things from wood and has a fondness for early 20th century comic monologues.

Stephen Marchant

Director

Director and Building Surveyor, Stephen originally qualified as an Architectural Technician before studying Building Surveying at Leicester Polytechnic and becoming a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1992 and a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers in 2000.

With over 25 years construction and property experience gained within private architectural and surveying practices, Stephen is responsible for all building survey activities as well as assisting the architect design teams with residential and commercial projects. When not in the office, Stephen can be found on the golf course, usually amongst the trees, lumbering around the occasional Saturday parkrun or supporting his local rugby club Alcester RFC, where he is Club President.

Ian Goulty

Chartered Architect

Commencing studies at Sheffield Hallam University in 1998, Ian eventually completed his training with a Master of Architecture from the University of Huddersfield in 2009. Ian registered as an Architect in 2010 and became chartered with the RIBA in 2015. Shortly after this, Ian made the move from his home of Yorkshire to the Midlands. Ian joined Masefields in October 2021 as a Chartered Architect and brings a wealth of experience on a wide range of project types, including education, healthcare, housing, listed buildings, community buildings, offices, modular buildings and theatre, as well as involvement in other project types, such as, hotels, shops and drive throughs. Ian has many interests and pastimes outside of the office, such as, science fiction, history, travel, cycling and various other sports, photography and birdwatching, to name but a few.

Matt Bennett

Architectural Technician

Matt graduated from The Leicester School of Architecture in 2012 with a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology, which was followed in 2013 with an MSc in Architecture & Sustainability, passed with distinction. Matt is currently working towards becoming a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. Matt joined the Masefields team in 2016 as an Architectural Technician where his role includes producing concept, planning & building regulation drawings, 3D visualisation, monitoring of planning & building regulation applications and liaising with clients, contractors and Local Authorities. Outside of work, Matt enjoys holding controversial opinions and being cynical, his other interests include reading, 3D printing, beer festivals and playing with steam trains

Lorraine Sawyer

Office Manager

Lorraine has over 30 years’ experience comprising secretarial, office management and customer service roles, predominantly within the Legal and Insurance industries. She is happiest when helping others and here to help all of the team and our clients, no matter how big or small the task. Outside of work, Lorraine enjoys swimming, walking her jack russell terrier and spending time with her grandchildren.

Milo

Customer Service & Wellbeing Manager

Milo works part time, in customer services and as our office wellbeing manager. When not resting or working for treats, he wanders the office with the occasional knee tap to check we are all well.
