Hardwick Lane, Studley
At Masefields, we believe every building has a story worth telling… and sometimes, that story just needs a new chapter.
Our latest completed project transforms a once-dilapidated horse stable, long neglected and on the brink of collapse, into a striking modern home that celebrates both its heritage and the future of sustainable living.
When we first visited the site, the stable’s crumbling stone walls and weather-worn timbers hinted at its past life, but its structure was fragile and its purpose lost. Rather than erase its character, our design sought to preserve it, retaining the building’s original form and materials wherever possible, while introducing contemporary design elements and cutting-edge eco-technologies.
The finished home now pairs traditional craftsmanship with high-spec modern living. Natural insulation, an air-source heat pump, and discreet solar panels make the house exceptionally energy-efficient. A series of French doors and Velux windows flood the interior with light and the windows frame sweeping views of the surrounding landscape. Inside, exposed beams and restored stonework sit alongside clean lines, open spaces, and a palette of sustainable finishes.
This barn conversion is more than a renovation… it’s a revival and we are proud of how thoughtful design can breathe new life into old structures. What was once an abandoned agricultural building now stands as a warm, welcoming family home that will stand for generations that honours its rural roots while embracing the demands of a low-carbon future.
