Hospitality Suite

Solihull Moors FC

Masefields and Solihull Moors Football Club enjoy a longstanding working relationship. Over the past 5 years, Masefields has assisted with an impressive range and scale of construction and renovation projects; from the modest but indispensable disabled toilet facilities to the planning, design of a multi-million pound main stand, hospitality suite and executive boxes.

The ambition

Constructing a 1,500-capacity main stand was a key stage in achieving the club’s ambition to be promoted to the English Football League. SMFC is a professional football club in the West Midlands with their sights set on bigger crowds, more supporters and facilities to match.

Having already worked extensively with the Masefields team, the club’s directors trusted their expertise and track record in designing leisure and sporting facilities.

It was an ambitious project. Masefields handled the applications, created the design brief and detailed technical drawings that would ensure compliance and, crucially, buildability for the client-appointed engineers and suppliers. The full process was completed in 18 months.

The challenge

Working onsite at the club, especially during the season, required careful planning and meticulous time management. Offices are occupied, training sessions are ongoing and matches are happening every week. To minimise disruption – and protect the club’s revenue – Masefields scheduled work during the off-season months or at weekends. Coordinating this type of project in an occupied space requires close collaboration with the onsite construction team and other suppliers, as well as with the club management. Masefields were delighted to be able to complete the main stand, the hospitality suite and the spectator boxes on time and on budget, by the end of 2021.

The community hub is work in progress and the hub and training facilities are concepted, the applications for permissions will take place in 2022.  We look forward to many future collaborations with SMFC!

Projects in the pipeline

This year, Masefields and SMFC are creating concept and design briefs for another ambitious project as part of the next phase of growth. A new Community Hub will provide a range of facilities from changing rooms, a physiotherapy treatment room, activity hall and a sensory room.

In the longer term, there are ongoing development plans to improve the training facilities and the other local sports and leisure venue, Studley Sports Club.
